During a visit to the Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio, my wife and I found ourselves standing over a section of water where a whole group of koi had gathered. Instead of drifting calmly the way koi often do, these seemed to move with a kind of collective rhythm — circling, weaving, almost herding around one another.
There was something mesmerizing about the way their colors overlapped and blended as they moved. The water was so clear that every scale, every ripple, every shift in direction felt vivid and alive.
